Dividends Are Getting Cheaper

Dividends mean nothing today. Nobody cares that Bemis just upped its dividend. Who cares that Kimberly Clark's back to 4%? You want Altria's 7% yield? Doesn't look like others do. It never seems to matter on down days. People just say, "I don't want to think about dividends, for heaven's sake. I want to focus on capital preservation. Who cares if I pick up another couple of percent over cash? The whole market's falling apart." To which I say, it is always falling apart, or one step from falling apart. It has always been fragile. As I said on video earlier today, if you buy something today, I'm sure you won't do well. And it doesn't mean much to anyone. So let me remind you that a year ago, it didn't matter when the market was in free fall. These stocks, which will soon become accidental...
