These numbers are important because they show that the consumer is alive and well and willing to spend on bargains, and both Red Lobster and Olive Garden -- two of my favorite places -- are bargains because of their various all-you-can-eat promotions. You get good numbers out of Red Lobster and Darden when you are feeling pretty good mostly because you have a few more dollars in your pocket.
