In the midst of what's supposed to be an endless worldwide recession with China stopping its stimulus and ours not working, the stocks that go up the most when we are about to boom are all ramping today. We see CSX , Union Pacific , Freeport and BHP Billiton taking off, and they remind us that we are becoming unimportant, as these are not our companies. (To me, Vale should be higher, by the way.)
Once again, as an old-timer, I try to get my arms around the action of the stocks that you should be shorting aggressively off all the things in the papers. In other words, cap-and-trade, higher taxes for the rich, Card Check, the health care plan, the endless horrid drumbeat from Washington, much higher unemployment than thought, half-baked stimulus plan, a totally leftist ideological agenda -- I try to reconcile...
