Yes, once again, it's all about the buck.
Granted, I was looking for a short-term pullback this week for several reasons, not the least of which was that old Wall Street adage, "Sell Rosh Hashana, buy Yom Kippur." Yes, I know, that makes about as much sense as "Sell in May and go away."
(Of course, that "sell in May" business has quite a track record going back half a century. According to Stock Trader's Almanac, a $10,000 investment compounded to $531,444 for November to April in 58 years compared to a $1,021 gain for May to October. This year has not followed the pattern, because it's been straight up since March. But that doesn't mean the pattern should be tossed out -- it just means it didn't work this year.)
