What if the dollar weakens? What happens if we get a tidal wave of dollar-selling? That can't happen. Or at least that's how you feel when you read the statements of all the companies reporting that are being hammered by the greenback.
I have to admit that the dollar translations are incredibly horrible. You can have whole companies' profits just obliterated by the currency.
Drug companies, food companies, beverage companies -- they are just plain nasty now.
I had always thought that in the end, people would figure out that you can't really count on currency when it's going your way, and that the growth rates are overstated because of it.
But these stocks for the most part did nothing when earnings were augmented by a weak dollar.
