
YHOO Preview: Talks on Again With Microsoft?

Yahoo! , the red-headed stepchild of the Internet world, will report earnings after the close, and sell-siders expect the company to report gs of 8 cents per share on revenue of $1.2 billion. For the year ending Dec. 31, 2009, the Street consensus is at earnings of 38 cents per share on revenue of $5 billion.
There has been a lot of chatter that Microsoft is in talks again with Yahoo! to do some sort of deal on search and advertising. I don't expect management to provide any clarity on the issues this evening, but maybe the company might drop a hint here or there.
Another closely watched issue will be regarding chatter about big layoffs in order to control costs. New CEO Carol Bartz will more than likely provide clarity on her restructuring plans going forward. I expect a lot more detail on this...
