Time Warner (TWX), the global entertainment company, is scheduled to report third-quarter 2009 results before the market opens on Wednesday and conduct its quarterly conference call later that morning.
The company is expected to earn 53 cents per share on revenue of $7.08 billion. In the year-ago quarter, Time Warner earned 93 cents per share on revenue of $11.71 billion.
Time Warner is playing caboose to industry peer Viacom (VIA), which reported earlier today. There are many similarities between the two companies, such as cable TV and filmed entertainment. Time Warner also owns a large publishing empire that is dying a fast death, with perhaps the only exception being its Sports Illustrated title. In filmed entertainment, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince picked up box office receipts from overseas and is ranked second this year.
