
Memo to Justice: Check the AIG Transcripts

There's some glorious news in The Wall Street Journal this morning about how prosecutors are "Poised to Impanel AIG Grand Jury," along with probes of Bear, Credit Suisse, Lehman and UBS.
I have a memo for them, at least when it comes to AIG and Lehman. It's pretty simple. Get the Dec. 7 transcript of the all-day analyst meeting for AIG. It is filled with lies about exposure. Filled with them. I know, because when I said that AIG didn't know what it was saying or doing after that day -- which was polite in retrospect, because the government is looking into deliberate confiscation -- the company came back to me with all of the assertions made that day. Almost every single assertion about the exposure that was made by Joseph Cassano, who ran the AIG Financial Products division, now looks like a lie. I never mind...
