The Mac's the real problem with Apple . Mac sales just haven't been strong, even as Hewlett-Packard's PC's have been. It's a big quandary and an important one because Apple needs to have Macs, iPhones and iPods doing well. It's the substance of the Goldman Sachs downgrade this morning. (Keep in mind that the analyst upgraded it at $175, so he is totally and utterly suspect.)
It's fascinating to me how sales for Apple's products have held up so well for so long when every single consumer product I follow has cratered. Cell phones, ex iPhones, have been disastrous. While I think that Nokia can cover its dividend, I also believe that it shouldn't be able to at this pace. I don't know how Motorola gets through this period.
