Tech Stocks Have More Appeal Than Chemicals

By Jim Cramer
About this article:
Tough to make a choice: chemicals vs. tech.
I like the chemicals. Dow Chem sells at 40 cents on the dollar. Rohm and Haas has a buyback that's incredible.
Eastman and PPG could get bids. Now that the Olin-Pioneer deal passes government muster, there's tons to like there.
But the issue there is that you have to get a takeover to make it work. No takeover, and three days from now all of these stocks are down and down badly, like the hotel stocks.
Now, tech is just the opposite. You go with the four horsemen:
Amazon
Google
Research In Motion
Apple
And you go with the generics:
Texas Instruments
EMC
Applied Materials
Intel
Microsoft
And you ride them through earnings season.
The latter is a very important concept, because you might get shaken out tonight by Intel going to $25 -- there's lots of options pressure -- and lose faith.
Don't lose faith. Seasonally and leadership-wise, tech is fabulous.
And in three days...
