Checking in With the Pig Farmer

I decided yesterday afternoon to check on my old friend Mr. Womack. As introduced decades ago by financial journalist John Train, Mr. Womack is a pig farmer who waits for market panics, drives into town and buys stocks that have fallen under $10 and pay dividends. After a period of a few years when the next bubble hit Wall Street he would drive to town and sell them. I have written about him twice and suggested stocks he might be a buyer of using his system. I introduced him in late October of last year and last paid a visit in January. He is having a pretty good year. If he purchased a 1,000 shares of the three stocks suggested in October, he is up about 8%, not including dividends.
