George Soros Goes Green

Never one for subtlety, last week George Soros took action against global climate change in the form of $1 billion. On Oct. 10, two months before 190 nations are set to meet in Copenhagen to discuss the future of the Kyoto Protocol, the financier announced that he will invest $1 billion in clean energy technology. Soros is a proponent of a greenhouse gas tax in favor of a cap and trade plan fight global climate change. In addition, the investor will donate $100 million to start a new environmental advisory group. In a report from Bloomberg, Thomas Heller, the head of the initiative, says that Soros' organization will act as part advisory group, part policy developer and part watchdog.
