Screens for a Rainy Day

Yesterday seemed like a good day to run screens. There were thunderstorms moving through the area. The morning market action was fairly slow and I was really tired of listening to all the cheerleading on television. I ran a few of the screens I only run on occasion and made some interesting discoveries The first one I ran was the triple-six screen. I take the name from an interview done with the partners at Tweedy Browne years ago. They looked for stocks that traded at 60% or less of book value, had a PE of six or less and had a dividend yield of at least 6%. I only run it once in a great while because it doesn't really turn up many names. Once a year or so I get a stock off the screen that turns out to be a gem but it is rare....
